The Switching Technique

REESTABLISH OPTIMAL BRAIN FUNCTION

Switching is a term we use in Applied Kinesiology to describe disorganization within the brain and the nervous system. It is a normal biological protective mechanism of the body triggered by various stressors that prevents us from overtaxing ourselves physically, mentally and emotionally.

Under normal circumstances the brain is able to reset after a stressor has passed or after a period of rest, but when we are faced with chronic stress like demanding situations, relational drama, electromagnetic radiation, fluorescent lighting, dehydration or dietary toxins the brain can become stuck in this switched mode which shifts the nervous system into a protective mode. When operating from this mode our healing is impaired and we cannot grow and expand on a personal level.

Some signs or being switched are confusion that can manifest as lack of spatial awareness, confusion between left and right, difficulty concentrating or remembering things, difficulty being in the present moment, making silly mistakes, feeling irritable, difficulty making decisions, self sabotaging behavior, being all in the head and cut off from feelings, getting stressed too easily, or pushing yourself to over exhaustion from which it is difficult to recover.

You can use the Switching technique to reset your nervous system and reintegrate your brain back to its optimal function and optimize your resilience to stress.

The actual technique is really simple. The two contact points used are the eyelids and the hollowing underneath the clavicles, where our kidney acupuncture points K27 are found.  The eyelids are gently pressed to stimulate the reflexes of the eye muscles that will activate the brain areas that hold onto stress. Press gently until you see dancing lights and keeping your eyes closed as you move your hand to contact your K27 points under your clavicles.

Maintain this contact while you gently tap over the three primary neurological axis’ of the body – your head, heart and your navel. Breathe deeply into your belly.  The tapping stimulates the electromagnetic fields of your body and causes the nervous system to rebalance itself.

For even more powerful results I recommend combining this technique with the Cortices balancing technique. You can find the article and the instructional video under the article called The Cortices Technique.

Both of these simple yet powerful techniques have been designed to balance the brain and the entire nervous system. The more frequently you perform them, the more powerfully the brain will rebalance itself and this balance will have a long-lasting effect. This is because the brain has a powerful ability to change and modify its structure and function called neuroplasticity.
